Langdon has announced the following events relative NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:
The proponent plans to construct and operate an automobile salvage business near Carmanville on Route 330. Automobile wrecks will be collected and dismantled for useable parts at the salvage yard. The proposed salvage yard will be approximately 3.75 hectares in area and will contain a three bay garage. The undertaking was registered on June 15, 2000; public comments are due on July 19, 2000; and the minister's decision is due on July 30, 2000. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT REQUIRED
Duck Pond Copper-Zinc Mine (Millertown Area) The minister has directed the proponent to prepare and submit an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) to determine if the project may have significant environmental impacts. An Environmental Assessment Committee (EAC) has been appointed. The committee has representation from the provincial departmentd of Mines and Energy, Forest Resources and Agrifoods, and Environment and Labour, and the federal departments of Fisheries and Oceans and Environment. The EAC will develop the guidelines which will highlight the environmental issues to be addressed in the EIS. Once approved by the minister, the guidelines will be made available to the public for information.
