NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Crown Land Forest Mgmt Dist 14 Amendment (O'Reagan's)
Proponent: Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

The proponent proposes an amendment to the five year operating plan for Forest Management District 14 to construct 11 kilometers of forestry access roads near O'Reagan's, Codroy Valley area. The amendment is required because the land for the route approved under the existing five year plan (April 1997 - March 2002) was unable to be purchased and a road is necessary to enable a local sawmill operator to harvest high quality birch sawlogs. The undertaking was registered on May 24, 2000; public comments are due on June 25, 2000; and the minister's decision is due on July 8, 2000.

Crown Land Forest Mgmt Dist 14 Amendment (Grand Daddy's Brook)
Proponent: Department of Forest Resources and Agrifoods

The proponent proposes an amendment to the five year operating plan for Forest Management District 14 to construct 750 meters of forestry access road near Grand Daddy's Brook, Codroy Valley area. Also, included in this amendment is the planned transfer of 5,500 cubic meters of timber over a 65 hectare area from domestic to commercial harvesting. This timber was approved for domestic harvesting under the existing five year plan (April 1997 - March 2002) and is required for commercial harvesting to allow a local contractor access to a supply of timber in the Codroy area. The undertaking was registered on May 24, 2000; public comments are due on June 25, 2000; and the minister's decision is due on July 8, 2000.
