Langdon has announced the following events relative UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED FROM ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT: The minister has released the following project from environmental assessment as per requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act: Lower Humber River/ Deer Lake Resort
(Chalets/Golf Course) This project has been released subject to obtaining all necessary permits and approvals from provincial and federal government departments. In particular, the proponent will have to meet the requirements of the Pesticides Control Regulations and ensure adequate buffers are maintained to eliminate any impacts on the Humber River. Also, a Historic Resources Survey will be required due to the archeological significance of the area and the Lower Humber River. Construction of a bridge over the Humber River will require approval under the Navigable Waters Protection Act and will require an environmental review by DFO under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (CEAA) to address concerns of navigability and impacts to fisheries. Approval will also be required from the Water Resources Division of the Department of Environment and Labour.
