Premier appoints acting Minister of Education

Premier Brian Tobin announced today that while Education Minister Judy Foote is on medical leave, Deputy Premier and Minister of Development and Rural Renewal, Beaton Tulk will serve as acting Minister of Education.

"I am very confident in Minister Tulk�s ability to work with Department of Education officials and staff to continue to provide a top-notch system of education in our province," said Premier Tobin.

"It is very important that Minister Foote is able to focus her energy on getting well right now and I know that I am joined by all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians when I wish her a speedy recovery," added the premier.

Minister Judy Foote has been off for medical reasons since mid-August. The date of her return is not yet known.
