Contract awarded for Paton Hospital Project

Lloyd Matthews, Acting Minister of Works, Services and Transportation, Joan Marie Aylward, Minister of Health and Community Services, and Sandra Kelly, MHA - Gander, announced today the awarding a major mechanical systems infrastructure contract for the James Paton Memorial Hospital in Gander.

The contract, valued at $4,367,560, was awarded to Tristar Mechanical Limited of St. John's. The contract consists generally of the supply of all material and labour to complete infrastructure works including demolition, removals, restoration, architectural work related to the construction of mechanical and electrical room as well as other miscellaneous work.

The minister said government intends to proceed with the completion of the James Paton Memorial Hospital as currently planned at a total project cost of $58 million.

Minister Matthews said he is confident that this significant announcement will be well received by all residents of Gander and surrounding areas who are served by this health care facility.
