The following is being distributed at the request of the Newfoundland and Labrador High School Athletic Federation:

Island high school 3A boys volleyball championships

The High School Athletic Federation will be sponsoring the island 3A boys volleyball tournament this coming weekend. Bishop White All Grade in Port Rexton is the host school for the event. They will play host to five other schools from across the island in a competition to qualify for the provincial tournament in Labrador City on December 10 and 11.

The six teams will play in a round robin format with the opening match set to go at 9:45 Friday morning. The following schools have won their respective regional competitions and will be competing this weekend; John Burke High (Grand Bank), Coaker Academy (Summerford), Holy Cross (St. Alban's), Indian River High (Springdale), Peninsula High (Piccadilly) and the host Bishop White. Games continue throughout Friday and Saturday followed by the semi-final, bronze and gold medal matches Saturday afternoon.

The presentation of medals, Keyin Sportsmanship Award and Championship banner will follow immediately after the championship match. All provincial high school tournaments are sponsored by the School Milk Foundation/Dairy Farmers Association and Keyin College.
