September 15 - 22 - National Swim Week

September 15, 1999, one year to the day from the start of the Sydney Olympics, Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador and its member swim clubs throughout the whole province, join with the rest of the country in celebrating swimming, Canada's #1 participation sport.

Swimming Newfoundland and Labrador encourages anyone who can, to visit your local pool during National Swim Week. Take your family, take a friend, go for a dip and find out about your community's swim team.

The week also marks the official launch of Swimming Canada's new Learn to Swim Program, I Can Swim and I Can Swim Fast. Designed and supported by Swimming Canada, the National Sport Governing Body for swimming, with major corporate sponsorship from Sears, I Can Swim is being met with positive feedback and enthusiasm from people all across the country in the many communities where the program has been introduced during the past few months.
