Normore leads Canadian basketball team delegation

As Canada prepares to qualify for the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, a Newfoundlander will be there front and center. Glenn Normore, International Chair of Basketball Canada, will be the head of a delegation to the Olympic Qualifying Men's Basketball Tournament. They are playing an exhibition game against the American national team (comprised of NBA all-stars) on July 11 in Orlando, Florida before travelling to San Juan, Puerto Rico for the qualifier being staged from July 14-25. The top two teams will go to the Olympic Games.

The Canadian team recently returned from a successful tour of Australia and the addition of stars like Dallas' Steve Nash and seven foot tall draft pick Todd MacCulloch certainly strengthens the team and will add to the excitement of the tournament.

Normore is quick to point out that Canada's womens team have already qualified for the Olympics and both teams are also preparing for the Pan Am Games in Winnipeg later this summer.
