The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Legends host Provincials

Close to 300 swimmers from 11 swim clubs in Newfoundland and Labrador and from Saint Pierre will compete in the AA/AAA Long Course Championships this weekend at the Aquarena in St. John's.

Hosted by the St. John's Legends Swim Club, the meet will get underway with heats on Friday at 8:30 a.m. Finals for the morning events begin at 7:00 p.m. on Friday and heats and finals sessions will run on both Saturday and Sunday.

AA and AAA top team banners, along with other team and individual awards, will be announced after finals on Sunday night.

Also to be announced on Friday night will be the names of 20 swimmers picked for a provincial tour team. The team will leave St. John's in July and train at Brock University in St. Catherine's, Ontario before going on to compete at an international age group invitational in Buffalo, New York.
