The following is being released at the request of the Newfoundland Labrador High School Athletic Federation:

The Newfoundland Labrador High School Athletic Federation will be holding its annual general meeting this coming weekend. Delegates from across Newfoundland and Labrador will be meeting Thursday through Saturday to map out the direction of the federation for the coming year.

Quite a number of resolutions dealing with the rules and regulations of the federation will be voted on. An important
resolution, in times of educational restructuring will be the role of the teacher vs non-teacher coach. Other items up for discussion will be a review of the federation's corporate sponsorships, new fundraising initiatives and site selection for all of the High School Athletic Federation's tournaments.

The finalists for selection to the 2000 National Invitational Reebok Tournament have been decided based on the last three years performance at provincial tournaments. Newfoundland's representatives will be selected from the following teams:

Girls          Stella Maris High, Trepassey           Fatima Academy, St. Brides
                 Fogo Island High                            O'Donel High, Mount Pearl
                 Elwood Regional High, Deer Lake   St. Lawrence Central High

Boys         St. Francis High, Harbour Grace     St. Catherines High, Salmonier
                 O'Donel High, Mount Pearl            Fatima High, St. Brides
                 St. Lawrence Central High             Belanger Memorial, Doyles

Kevin Pittman will be finishing his second term as president of the federation. The position of president and vice-president finance/marketing will be open for nominations.
