The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Pepsi Volleyball Provincial Championships this weekend

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association will be hosting two more Pepsi Provincial Championships this weekend. The juvenile A girls championship will be played in St. John's with 16 teams set to begin competition on Friday afternoon. Division A is comprised of CBS Sabres Midget, Holy Trinity Nordics from Norman's Cove, Discovery Collegiate from Bonavista, and Humber Valley from Corner Brook. Division B is comprised of Bell Island, CBS Sabres Juvenile, Exploits Valley from Grand Falls-Windsor, and CSA Flames from Arnold's Cove. Division C: Botwood Volleyball Club, CBN Diggers, Holy Spirit from Manuels, and Corner Brook Midgets. Division D: Strikers from Marystown, Roncalli from Avondale, Beaconsfield Saxons, and Glovertown. All divisions will play a round robin with playoffs set to start Saturday morning at 8:30 at Memorial, CONA and MacDonald Drive Jr. High. The bronze medal game is scheduled for 3 p.m. and the gold for 4 p.m. on Saturday at Memorial University.

The top two teams from the juvenile A girls tournament will earn the right to represent the province at the National Juvenile Championship set for St. John's May 7-9. Teams that finish in 3rd and 4th will also have a chance to make it into the Juvenile National Championship if spots are available, depending on if other provinces do not fill all of their placements.

The Pepsi Juvenile B Championship is set for Marystown with 10 teams to compete; Division A: Strikers Midget B from Marystown, Crusaders Juvenile from Parker's Cove, Conne River, Smallwood Academy from Gambo, and Labrador City. Division B: Chargers Juvenile from Grand Bank, Strikers Juvenile from Marystown, Lester Pearson from Wesleyville, Riverwood Academy from Gander Bay and Trinity Bight.

Teams will play a round robin with the top two teams from each division making the playoffs. All matches will be played at Marystown Central High.
