The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Pepsi junior high provincial volleyball tournaments

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association is hosting the Pepsi Junior High Boys and Girls Provincial Championships this weekend February 5-6. The girls event will have 26 teams compete for top honours in Grand Falls-Windsor at Grand Falls Academy, St. Mikes and Notre Dame Academy. The teams will be broken into four divisions with the top two from each advancing to the playoffs scheduled for late Saturday afternoon with the awards presentation to follow directly after the championship match.

Division A is comprised of the following: Beothuck Cheifs 8's, Botwood, MacPherson, St. Marks from Shearstown, Presentation 8's from Corner Brook and Bell Island. Division B is comprised of: Beothuck Cheifs 7's, Frank Roberts, Lumsden Eagles, St. Peters from Benoits Cove, Pasadena, and Bishop O'Neill from Brigus. Division C is comprised of: Presentation Panthers B, CBS Ravens 8's, G.C. Rowe from Corner Brook, Roncalli from Avondale, Smallwood Academy from Gambo, Strikers from Marystown, and St. James from Port Aux Basques. Division D is comprised of: EVHS Junior Eagles from Grand Falls, MacPherson Junior from St. John's, Presentation 9's from Corner Brook, Amalgamated Academy, G.C. Rowe 8's, Stephenville and Anthony Paddon.

The boys event will be played in CBS with 15 teams competing in three divisions with the top two from each qualifying for the playoff round. The three divisions will compete at Queen Elizabeth, Frank Roberts Intermediate and Fred Kirby playoffs are scheduled for late Saturday. Division A is comprised of: Sabres Ravens 8's, Beaconsfield, Fred Kirby, Lumsden, and Presentation from Corner Brook. Division B is comprised of: St. Peters from Benoits Cove, Roncalli from Avondale, CBS Sabres Ravens 7's, Amalgamated from Bay Roberts and R.K. Gardner from Sunnyside. Division C is comprised of: William Mercer Mustangs, Fred Kirby, Bishop O'Neill, Lester Pearson from Wesleyville, and G.C. Rowe from Corner Brook.
