On Tuesday, July 6 Patricia Hearn, representing Industry Minister John Manley, and Percy Barrett, M.H.A., Bellevue, representing provincial Tourism, Culture and Recreation Minister Charles Furey, will announce the launch of a multimedia web site that showcases the development of the salt fisheries industry in Newfoundland and Labrador. With funding from Canada's Digital Collections program, historical content of the rich heritage of Newfoundland and Labrador was digitized by young Canadians. The Provincial Archives of Newfoundland and Labrador and the Centre for Material Culture Studies of Memorial University of Newfoundland provided the historical content and facilities to develop the web site. The launch will take place at the Colonial Building at 11:00 a.m.
