NOTE TO EDITORS:

The media are advised that the official ceremony to launch Tour Soiree '99 will take place tomorrow, Canada Day, at the St. John's waterfront at 7 p.m., as part of the exciting Canada Day program of activities. Premier Tobin, along with representatives from the Government of Canada and the official sponsors of Soiree '99, will be in attendance.

This is the first of 19 provincial stops for Tour Soiree '99, and it promises to be a great time featuring the Celtic Connection, a planned parachute jump by the Canadian Forces Sky Hawks, a performance of "Rendezvous with Destiny" starring Kevin Noble as Joey Smallwood, a laser light show and many more entertainers, displays and exhibitions.

Location: Fortis parking lot, Harbour Drive, St. John's waterfront.   Exhibitions start at 3 p.m.

Entertainment runs from 6:30 p.m. to midnight (including fireworks, weather permitting).

Official kickoff ceremony: 7 p.m.

Admission: Free (and free at every tour stop).
