NOTE TO EDITORS:

As part of the Soiree '99 Canada Day festivities on the St. John's waterfront, the Canadian Forces Sky Hawks parachute team will perform a jump onto the St. John's waterfront on July 1, weather permitting. The jump is scheduled to take place at approximately 7:30 p.m., in full view of the crowd assembled for the Tour Soiree '99 official kickoff event.

Four members of the local media are invited to take part in a practice jump on Wednesday, June 30, weather permitting. The practice flight will originate from Irving Aviation Services (Cougar Helicopters) and participants must be at the airport no later than 6:30 p.m. for a 7:30 p.m. practice jump.

The Sky Hawks are available for media interviews the morning of Wednesday, June 30.

Local media interested in participating should make their intention known BY FAX ONLY, and on company letterhead, before 5 p.m., Monday, June 27. One person per media outlet will be allowed to participate, and in the event that more than four requests are received, names will be drawn at random.
