Department receives NAPE letter The Department of Justice has confirmed that two letters have been received from the Newfoundland Association of Public Employees (NAPE) at approximately 11 p.m. Friday, stating that the correctional officers were prepared to go back on the job in all institutions by midnight. They also request that the parties immediately turn their attention to any and all issues that correctional officers feel precipitated the dispute. Justice indicates that before management personnel are removed from the institutions again on short notice and correctional officers are returned to work, government must be certain that the strike is ended and will not recur and issues related to an orderly return to work are properly addressed.
