(Industry, Trade and Technology)

NOTE TO EDITORS:

Sandra C. Kelly, Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, will join Tim Juran, vice president North America and Europe, R & B Falcon and Bob Shepherd, president of Friede Goldman Newfoundland for a tour of the Henry Goodrich mobile offshore drilling unit on November 22, 1999. Media are invited to attend this event.

Several weeks ago, R & B Falcon awarded a contract to Friede Goldman Newfoundland for equipment modifications to the Henry Goodrich, the semisubmersible drilling unit which will carry out production well drilling at the Terra Nova oil field beginning in early 2000.

The Henry Goodrich arrived in Marystown a short while ago, and media will have the opportunity to go on board the drilling unit to see the retrofit work currently being carried out at the yard.

Local MHAs Mary Hodder (Burin-Placentia West) and Judy Foote (Grand Bank), as well as Gary Bruce, chairman of the Terra Nova Management Committee will also attend.

Transportation via airplane will be provided for media representatives. Due to limited space, only three media representatives can attend, and will be accommodated on a first come, first served basis. Names of those attending must be confirmed by Friday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m.

The aircraft will depart from Hanger 1 (Canadian Helicopters) in St. John's at 9:00 am on Monday, November 22, 1999. The aircraft will leave the Marystown area at approximately 12:30 p.m. (Travelling time is approximately 40 minutes each way).
