Minister launches Success~Works

Sandra Kelly, Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, today launched Success~Works, an interactive client information system designed to provide business prospects with the information, programs and contacts they will need to do business in Newfoundland and Labrador. "Success~Works is an online client information system that marks a new approach to assisting businesses within Newfoundland and Labrador," Kelly said. "It is a comprehensive Industry, Trade and Technology interactive system that is accessible via the internet. Success~Works aligns computer systems and incorporates new methods, to help make doing business in our province a success."

Developed in conjunction with X-Wave Solutions, the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), Industry Canada, Operation ONLINE, and the Newfoundland and Labrador Association of Technology Industries, the combined websites will represent the most extensive concentration of interactive business data on Newfoundland and Labrador, the minister said.

"The Department of Industry, Trade and Technology has developed a system and a philosophy that changes the way we do business, one that will redefine entrepreneurial, business and industrial channels," said Minister Kelly. "Success~Works is about partnerships that work to enhance information transfer - a one-stop electronic system that ties customers, clients, entrepreneurs, business agencies, associations, communities, municipalities, and government to the information they need.

"Newfoundlanders and Labradorians or anyone from around the world, who is interested in doing business in this province will be able to access the client information system through our redesigned website at www.success.nfld.net," said Minister Kelly. "If you are looking for products, technology, professional services or venture partners, we have what you are looking for."

The system consists of nine modules, including an Investment Prospects Module, which will show clients the real advantages of doing business in this province through statistical comparisons. The Benefits Maximization module allows us to quickly compile information and statistics, and contact companies throughout the province that qualify to bid for projects - maximizing employment and the overall economic benefits our people and companies can realize.

Kelly noted that Success~Works is not confined to the internet, and clients who phone the Department of Industry, Trade and Technology will be able to access information staff seven days a week.

"Industry, Trade and Technology is on the job 24 hours a day," said Minister Kelly. "You will always get a live point of contact who will direct you to the right person or program, a definite advantage for international inquires."

"While the Department of Industry, Trade and Technology has been the lead in Success~Works, the departments of Development and Rural Renewal and Works, Services and Transportation also supported the development of the system," Kelly said.

"As well, throughout this project, we have worked closely with ACOA and Industry Canada," said Minister Kelly. "They have provided tremendous support, including financial support. We look forward to their continued involvement in Success~Works."

"Newfoundland and Labrador offers some of the most exciting business and investment opportunities in North America, and with Success~Works we have the technology to help make them happen," concluded Minister Kelly.
