Lac Virot, Grand Lake and Mulligan Caribou Extension Zones open

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, has announced, Lac Virot, Grand Lake and Mulligan Caribou Extension Zones are open effective today, November 26.

Minister Aylward said: "These zones have had several reports of caribou in the area which are supported by the general movement patterns of collared animals or by sightings by departmental staff. These caribou extension zones are now open for hunting purposes. Due to some local concerns with the discharging of firearms in the Lac Virot zone hunters are asked to use extreme care as they should in all zones."

Wildlife officials will continue to monitor movements of the caribou. Additional zones are being monitored and will be opened or closed depending on the presence of the George River caribou herd.
