Four additional caribou extension zones open

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, has announced, Orma South, Seal Lake, Nipishish Lake, and Big River caribou extension zones are open effective immediately.

Minister Aylward said: "There have been numerous reports of caribou in these areas and this is supported by the general movement patterns of collared animals. This warrants the opening of these caribou extension zones for hunting purposes."

Wildlife officials will continue to monitor movements of the caribou. Additional zones are being monitored and will be opened or closed depending on the presence of the George River caribou herd.
