Twin Falls Caribou Extension Zone opens

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, has announced, the Twin Falls caribou extension zone is open effective immediately.

Minister Aylward said: "According to departmental officials in Labrador, there has been an overnight migration of George River herd animals into the Twin Falls caribou extension zone. While there are no Labrador-collared animals in the zone, there are Quebec-collared animals. There have also been direct visual observations of animals in the zone by conservation officers. This warrants the opening of this caribou extension zone for hunting purposes."

Wildlife officials will continue to monitor movements of the caribou. Additional zones are being monitored and will be opened or closed depending on the presence of the George River caribou herd.
