Bay of Islands and Michikamau East caribou zones open

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, has announced, the Bay of Islands and the Michikamau East caribou zones are open effective immediately.

Minister Aylward said: "There have been several reports of animals in both areas. These correspond with the recorded movements of collared animals. With this data, wildlife officers are able to confirm numbers significant enough to warrant the opening of the zone."

The Michikamau East Caribou Zone also includes a buffer zone extending one kilometre south of the southern boundary which is the Esker Road and the Trans Labrador Highway.
