Additional caribou zones open in Labrador

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, has announced, the Colville Lake Caribou Zone is open effective immediately.

Minister Aylward said: "There have been numerous reports of animals in the zone which corroborate the distribution of satellite collars on animals in the George River herd. Departmental officials will continue to monitor the movement of the herd during the hunting season and open additional zones as the situation warrants."

There will also be an area within one kilometre south of the Trans Labrador Highway (TLH) at the southern boundary of the Colville Lake zone, between the eastern and western extremities of the junctions of the TLH and the zone boundaries which will be open as a buffer zone.
