Minister encourages support of Junior Forest
Wardens through annual tree sale

Kevin Aylward, Minister Forest Resources and Agrifoods, today announced that the Junior Forest Warden Association will hold its 4th Annual Tree Sale Day on Saturday, June 19. The sale will take place at the Forest Ecology Centre, Brookfield Road from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"I encourage everybody to take advantage of this yearly fund raiser by the Junior Forest Wardens," Minister Aylward stated. "It is a great opportunity to purchase beautiful trees and shrubs for reasonable prices, while supporting a very worthwhile organization."

The selection available will include: White Birch, Blue Spruce, Japanese Larch, Lilac, Potentilla, Weigela, Hydrangea, Flowering Crab, Burning Bush, Purple Leaf Sand Cherry, Crimson King, Red Maple and other species.

Wally Sutter of ForestTec has volunteered his services as an insect and disease expert. He will be available on Saturday to answer any questions that people may have.

The Junior Forest Wardens is a national program designed to bring together young people, parents and community leaders to experience the great outdoors. This provides the opportunity to enjoy provincial and national campouts, meet new friends, learn basic environmental skills and develop a greater understanding of nature.
