Salmonier Nature Park has new operating hours

Kevin Aylward, Minister of Forest Resources and Agrifoods, has announced a change in operating hours for Salmonier Nature Park for the 1999 season. The Salmonier Nature Park is an environmental education site designed for persons to learn about wildlife through firsthand experience and is situated on the Salmonier Line, 12 km south of the Trans Canada (on Route 90).

The park will continue to be open seven days a week from June 1 - September 6 (Labour Day) but the daily hours of operation during this period will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (with the gates closing at 5 p.m.) Also, the park will continue to operate after Labour Day but only Mondays to Fridays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Gates closing at 3 p.m.) until October 11 (Thanksgiving Day).

Salmonier Nature Park had traditionally opened 12 noon and remained open until 8 p.m. These changes reflect an increased demand for morning visitation to the park versus evenings. Additionally, the change from seven days to five days during the fall season, reflects the trend in visitation to the area during the fall in recent years.
