Minister appoints interim general manager for Marble Mountain Paul Dicks, minister responsible for Marble Mountain, said today that Bob Mercer has agreed to assume the position of general manager on an interim basis at Marble Mountain. "Bob Mercer formerly served as general manager from 1996 to 1997. Mr. Mercer swiftly and efficiently took Marble Mountain from a deficit position of over $800,000 to a break-even point," said Minister Dicks. "Since that time, he has served as vice-chair of the development corporation, and has spearheaded the condominium development at the resort. With the condo project just about complete, Bob has agreed to turn his talents back to the management of the facility." The minister noted that with a proper management team in place, Marble Mountain can focus its efforts on making the Canada Winter Games in February the best ever. "It's time to put aside the issues of the recent past," said Minister Dicks. "Now is the time for us all to concentrate our efforts and talents and show the rest of the country what this province, especially the west coast, has to offer. The Canada Winter Games is our opportunity to showcase Corner Brook and Marble Mountain as a winter tourism destination."
