Meetings taking place between Government and NAPE

Officials from the Department of Justice and Treasury Board were surprised at comments from NAPE President Tom Hanlon. In a news report this morning, remarks were attributed to Hanlon that "government has not been available for any meetings to try to resolve the issues which led to last week's dispute."

In fact, the first meeting between representatives from the

Department of Justice, Treasury Board and NAPE took place yesterday afternoon with the aid of a facilitator from the Department of Environment and Labour. NAPE is scheduled to present their concerns to government today and further meetings will take place in December after a three week "cooling off" period that was requested by the union. The Department of Justice plans to use this period to review the issues submitted by the union.
