Government commits funds to repair Roddickton Regional Health Care Centre

Premier Brian Tobin announced today that government has committed an estimated amount of $160,000 to repair a major crack which has occurred on the concrete floor of the Roddickton Regional Health Care Centre. A review was completed following a site visit by the premier in early June.

The SGE Group has been appointed as the consultant to carry out the necessary design work in preparation for the tender documents. It is anticipated that this work will be completed in about one week. Tenders will be called in August and construction will commence in September. Work will take approximately four weeks to complete.

The Roddickton Community Health Centre was constructed approximately seven years ago at a total cost of $3.2 million. The facility has two levels - level one is the basement section and level two contains the main health care clinical services. The settlement crack on the level two structure concrete floor which runs the full length of the building occurred during construction. The repair work will raise and level the entire concrete slab on a grade using a pressurized cement grout foam injection technique.

The premier said he is confident that this improved facility will benefit the people of Roddickton and surrounding area.
