Provincial Ministers in Happy Valley-Goose Bay to meet with Minister of   National Defence

Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Walter Noel and Ernest McLean, Minister of Government Services and Lands and Minister Responible for Labrador, will be in Happy Valley-Goose Bay tomorrow as part of the Province's efforts to further promote and expand the military presence in the town.

The Ministers will be attending a meeting with the Minister of National Defence, Art Eggleton, the MP for Labrador, Lawrence O'Brien, the Town Council of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, the local Chamber of Commerce and other stakeholders. The Ministers will also be attending a luncheon hosted by the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay. Minister Eggleton will be the guest speaker at the luncheon.

This will be a follow-up visit to the Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay by Ministers Noel and McLean. The two Ministers visited the town on March 10-11 and held meetings with local stakeholders to discuss efforts to secure, promote and expand the military training program at 5 Wing Goose Bay. At that time, The Ministers reaffirmed the Province's commitment to the low-level flight training program and to helping make the program more attractive to current and future users.

Minister Noel stated: "We will be indicating to Minister Eggleton the importance of the federal government and the Province working together to expand military presence in Labrador and that specific opportunities exist towards that goal". Minister McLean added: "We will stress to Minister Eggleton the importance of making the military training program as attractive as possible for Allied nations currently training in Labrador, and for those who may want to train here".
