families of victims Premier Brian Tobin today offered condolences to the families of those who died in the New Year's Eve avalanche in Kangiqsualujjuaq, Quebec. "The tragedy that befell the community of Kangiqsualujjuaq on December 31, 1998 is deeply felt by the people of Newfoundland and Labrador," said Premier Tobin. "We pray that the families of the victims, the survivors and the community may soon find some measure of peace in the face of this terrible tragedy." "On behalf of the people of Newfoundland and Labrador, I offer my sincere sympathy to the families and commend the community for its rescue efforts which undoubtedly saved many lives," said Premier Tobin. "I want you to know that your loss has been felt by all Canadians and our thoughts are with you at this difficult time."
