Bulletin Environment and Labour Minister Oliver Langdon has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies may be obtained by contacting the regional office of the Department of Environment and Labour or by calling toll-free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown for each item. NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED: Corner Brook Auto Salvage &
Recycling Facility The proponent proposes to construct an auto salvage and recycling facility in Corner Brook on Lundrigan Drive. The proposal involves construction of a garage on a 1.6 hectare lot, storage of wrecks, and recovery of reusable auto parts. The undertaking was registered on November 30, 1999; public comments are due on December 31, 1999; and the minister's decision is due on January 14, 2000. Roddickton Sawmill Expansion The proponent proposes to expand the existing sawmill operation in Roddickton. The proposed expansion is for a 9.5 hectare site adjacent to the existing operation and will include replacement of the existing mill with a stud mill to increase lumber production and a kiln drying unit. The undertaking was registered on December 2, 1999; public comments are due on January 1, 2000; and the minister's decision is due on January 16, 2000. 2000-2001 Construction Seasons The 2000-2001 Environmental Protection Plans (EPPs) for construction of the Trans Labrador Highway have been received; the review deadline for public comments is December 31, 1999.
