Grant to Englee from Newfoundland and Labrador Waste Management Trust Fund

Oliver Langdon, Minister of Environment and Labour, and Premier Brian Tobin, MHA - The Straits and White Bay North, are pleased to announce approval of a grant in the amount of $25,000 under the Newfoundland and Labrador Waste Management Trust Fund to the Town of Englee for the establishment of a day park on the site of the old hilltop school.

The town council submitted an application for demolition of the old hilltop school building and replacement as a day use park. The creation of a day park on the site will bring numerous benefits from an environmental and tourism perspective.

"The Newfoundland and Labrador Waste Management Trust Fund is the most progressive community based environmental program ever introduced in the province," said Premier Tobin. "I applaud the town council of Englee for taking advantage of this program and I encourage all town councils, schools, businesses and community groups in the district to take advantage of this program as it can bring significant benefits to the area."

The Newfoundland and Labrador Waste Management Trust Fund is administered by the Multi-Materials Stewardship Board and provides partial funding for waste management and environmental initiatives.
