Environmental Assessment Bulletin

Environment and Labour Minister Oliver Langdon has announced the following events relative to the Environmental Assessment Act. In the case of documents received or approved, copies may be obtained by contacting the regional office of the Department of Environment and Labour or by calling toll free 1-800-563-6181. Comments on submitted documents are invited from the public, addressed in writing to the minister, and are welcome prior to the deadline date shown for each item.

NEW UNDERTAKINGS REGISTERED:

Old Mans Pond Cottage Access Road
(Proponent: Danny B. Anderson)

The proponent plans to construct a 900 metre road to access six existing cottage lots on the southwest end of Old Mans Pond, near Goose Arm in western Newfoundland. Construction of the road is planned to begin in late July and will take approximately six days to complete. The undertaking was registered on June 8, 1999; public comments are due on July 9, 1999; and the minister's decision is due on July 23, 1999.

UNDERTAKINGS RELEASED FROM ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT:

The minister has decided that an Environmental Impact Statement is not required for the:

(1) Charlottetown (Labrador) Shrimp Processing Plant
        Proponent: Labrador Choice Seafoods Ltd.

(2) Flower's Island Docking Facility
        Proponent: Straits Development Association

(3) LaPoile to Grand Bruit Transmission Line
        Proponent: Newfoundland & Labrador Hydro
