Time off for voting Voters who are working on polling day, February 9, are entitled to have four consecutive hours in order to vote while the polls are open (8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. in Newfoundland and 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. in parts of Labrador on Atlantic Time). If the hours of work do not allow for a total of four consecutive hours in which to vote, the employer is required to provide enough time off to ensure that the four hours are available, without a reduction in pay. If it is necessary to grant time off, it may be done at the employer's convenience.
