Eleven presentations to be heard at public consultations meeting, Stephenville

Public consultations on an economic renewal strategy for Newfoundland and Labrador will continue in Stephenville on Saturday, with 11 presentations scheduled to be heard by the Cabinet Committee on Jobs and Growth.

The meeting in Stephenville is one of seven added to the original schedule of forums in order to accommodate individuals and groups who wish to make presentations. Approximately 1,300 have attended the meetings to date, and about 200 presentations have been made.

Those scheduled to make presentations in Stephenville on Saturday (10 a.m., Holiday Inn) are: Mayor Cec Stein of Stephenville; Mayor George Myles, Town of St. George's; Sharon Whelan, executive director, Bay St. George Status of Women; Larry Peckford, president, and Fred Pottle, first vice-president, Bay St. George Chamber of Commerce; Debbie White, Festival Coast Tourism Association; Eric Legge, president, Bay St. George South Area Development Association; Wayne Young, president, Port-au-Port Development Association; Greg Hillier, Burgeo Diversification and Development Corporation; and Ray McIsaac, Newfoundland and Labrador Association for Community Living. The Long Range Regional Economic Development Board has scheduled two presenters, executive director Pat Power and Bob Fisher.

Additional meetings have been scheduled for December 2 and 9 in St. John's, both at 7 p.m., Holiday Inn. Another will be held December 8 in Mount Pearl, beginning 7 p.m., The Legion Community Centre.
