(Development and Rural Renewal)

The following is being distributed at the request of the Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation:

Local television and feature film scripts to be developed at the National Roundtable

The FILM AND TELEVISION PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE is pleased to announce the names of the four scriptwriters chosen to participate in the "NATIONAL ROUNDTABLE". Twelve Newfoundland scripts were submitted for the four available positions and while the competition was stiff the jury's final selection included:

- On the Doorstep, a feature film by LEVI CURTIS
- The Richard Brothers, a feature film by STANLEY SPARKES
- Fortress of My Father, a feature film by PAUL BUTLER
- Chain Letter, a feature film by ED TANASYCHUK

The Roundtable is scheduled to begin on October 15 and will take place over three intense weekends. ALLAN MAGEE, a top Canadian story editor, will guide the writers through the demanding process of writing and rewriting their scripts. The polished scripts will then be ready for producers and broadcasters to give them serious consideration. Professional actors will do a public reading of the scripts early in the New Year.

THE GENEROUS SUPPORT OF CBC TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT AND TELEFILM CANADA enabled the committee to bring Allan Magee to Newfoundland. HOTEL NEWFOUNDLAND will host both Allan and the workshop. Due to the generous support of the NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR FILM DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION and CTV INC. the participants will not pay any fees for the workshops.
