The following is being distributed at the request of the Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation: Learning the Fine Art of Film Finance - Film and Television Financing Workshops scheduled October 15 at the Hotel Newfoundland Navigating the complex world of film and television finance will get easier for Newfoundland and Labrador's producers Friday, October 15. A day-long series of workshops will guide novice to experienced producers through specific areas of film and television financing including bridge financing, the law, insurance, accounting, federal, provincial and private sources of funding, tax credits, broadcast licences and distribution. The workshop series is sponsored by the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA) in conjunction with Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation (NLFDC), Telefilm Canada, Royal Bank of Canada, Clarke Barristers & Solicitors, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and Film Finances Canada Ltd. The film and television financing workshops will assist producers with the complexity of project planning, with a practical look at the financing environment in Canada. This year, the film and television industry in Atlantic Canada is valued at more than $150 million, up from just over $50 million three years ago. The industry is one of the fastest growing sectors of the Atlantic Canadian economy. The film and television financing workshops will take place at Hotel Newfoundland in St. John's on Friday, October 15, 1999.
