The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Western Open volleyball results

The Newfoundland and Labrador Association hosted the Western Open Senior Men's Volleyball championship on November 20-21. There were five teams registered for the tournament which was held at G.C. Rowe Jr. High. The teams were: Pasadena, Corner Brook, Grand Falls/Windsor, Rocky Harbour and Deer Lake all completing for the championship.

After the round robin the team standings were as follows:

1st                                                Pasadena

2nd                                                Grand Falls/Windsor

3rd                                                Corner Brook

4th                                                Deer Lake

5th                                                Rocky Harbour

Pasadena won the tournament by defeating Corner Brook in the championship match 15-10, 15-9.

In qualifying for the finals Pasadena defeated Deer Lake and Corner Brook defeated Grand Falls/Windsor in the semi-finals.
