The following is being released at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Western Open Volleyball Tournament

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association is hosting the Western Open Senior Men's Volleyball championship this weekend November 20-21. There are five teams attending this tournament: HMA Braves, Corner Brook, Pasadena, Deer Lake and Grand Falls-Windsor - Stride & Slide. All matches will be played at G. C. Rowe Junior High - Corner Brook. They will play the best of three games in each match.

The teams will play a round robin tournament with the top four teams advancing to the playoffs. All playoffs are also played at G. C. Rowe Junior High and are scheduled for Saturday afternoon. There will be awards presented to the first place team.

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association will be hosting two other Senior Open Championships this year. They include the Central Senior Open which will be held on January 29-30 at Grand Falls- Windsor and the Eastern Senior Open on February 26-27 at St. John's. In addition, the provincial championships are scheduled for March in Gander/Grand Falls-Windsor.
