The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

John McGrath, chairman of the Board of Governors of the Newfoundland and Labrador Sports Hall of Fame, is pleased to announce the selection of Elizabeth (Russell) Dale and Tom Healy of St. John's as members of the Selection Committee of the Provincial Sports Hall of Fame.

Elizabeth (Russell) Dale has been a physical education teacher for 28 years. She represented Newfoundland at three Canada Games in 1967, 1969 and 1971. She played varsity volleyball, field hockey and basketball for Memorial University and represented Newfoundland in national competitions in volleyball, basketball, field hockey and softball. She has served on the governing body for junior squash in the province.

Tom Healy is an owner of Healy's Pharmacies Ltd. of St. John's and at present the president of the Canadian Pharmaceutical Association. He was an all-star basketball performer with Holy Cross and Memorial University. He was a member of local and provincial championship teams and captured scoring championships and individual honour during his playing days. He was a goalkeeper with Holy Cross soccer teams and captained the St. Mary's University Huskies of Halifax varsity team.

Mr. McGrath stated he was pleased and honoured that both have agreed to serve, and that their many accomplishments and extensive involvement with sport in the province will serve the committee exceedingly well during their three year terms of appointment.
