The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Minor "Pepsi" Basketball Championships

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will hold five Minor Pepsi Provincial Championships this weekend, April 3 and 4. G. C. Rowe in Corner Brook will host the West Coast Intermediate (under 14) Boys Championship. Other teams entered include, St. Francis Xavier of Deer Lake, Belanger Memorial of Doyles, St. James of Port aux Basques and G. A. Mercer of Corner Brook.

Baie Verte will host the West Coast Under 16 Boys tournament will Charisma Collegiate of Springdale, Fogo Island, F.G. Bursey and St. Michael's of Grand Falls-Windsor and G. Shaw Collegiate of Chapel Island competing for the title.

St. Anne's School in Dunville will host the East Coast Mini Girls Under 12 Championship. Teams entered include Fatima of St. Bride's, Hoopster's and St. Kevin's of the Goulds, and Donald C. Jamieson of Salt Pond on the Burin Peninsula.

St. Kevin's and Gould's Elementary will host the East Coast Under 11 Boys and Girls event. Teams entered in the girl's division include Hoopster's A and B, St. Kevin's, St. Peter's of Mount Pearl, Placentia YBC and Dunne Academy of St. Mary's Bay. The boy's event includes Hoopster's, St. Kevin's, Placentia YBC, Dunne Academy and Donald C. Jamieson.

All tournaments will commence on Friday afternoon and conclude with the championship game slated for Saturday evening. Awards for all provincial minor championships are provided by Pepsi, the official sponsor for minor basketball in Newfoundland and Labrador.
