The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Provincial Volleyball Tournament

The Newfoundland and Labrador Volleyball Association is hosting the Pepsi Junior High Boys and Girls Provincial Championships this weekend, February 13-14. The girls' event will have 24 teams competing for top honours in the Bonavista area at three schools; Discovery Collegiate in Bonavista, St. Marks in Kings Cove and Bishop White in Port Rexton. The teams will be broken into four divisions with the top two from each advancing to the playoffs which will all be played at Discovery Collegiate. The playoffs are scheduled for late Saturday afternoon with the awards presentation to follow directly after the championship match. Division A is comprised of the following: Discovery Collegiate Devils, Macpherson Magic, Amalgameted Academy, Valmount Vikings, St. Mikes Junior, and Pasadena Academy Falcons. Division B is comprised of: St. Marks Diggers, Mary Queen of the World Titans, St. Peter's Academy Mariners, Roncalli Cardinals, G.C. Rowe Crusaders, and Islanders Volleyball - Bell Island. Division C is comprised of : St. Marks Lions, Presentation Panthers, CBS Sabres, Frank Roberts 8's, Southwest Arm Academy, and CSC Loopers. Division D is comprised of: Strikers from Marystown, Lumsden Eagles, CBN Knights, St. James Flames, Anthony Paddon, and G.A. Mercer.

The boys event will be played in Gander with 17 teams competing in three divisions with the top two from each qualifying for the playoff round. The three divisions will compete at Gander Collegiate and St. Pauls High School. Playoffs are scheduled for late Saturday at Gander Collegiate. Disision A is comprised of: Glovertown Eagles, Gill Memorial Loopers, St. James Junior High Flames, R.K. Gardner Scorpions, Discovery Collegiate Destroyers, Frank Roberts Intermediate. Division B is comprised of: Springdale, G. C. Rowe Crusaders, Beaconsfield Saxons, St. Peters Academy, CBN Knights, CBS Sabres Ravens. Division C is comprised of : Carmanville Loopers, William Mercer Mustangs, Valmount Academy Vikings, Presentation and Pasadena Falcons.

All awards are supplied by Browning Harvey who is the Provincial Sponsor of NLVA minor volleyball.
