The following is being distributed at the request of Sport Newfoundland and Labrador:

Provincial Basketball Team Tryouts

The Newfoundland and Labrador Basketball Association will conduct a number of tryout camps over the Easter Vacation for various provincial programs on the East and West coast. Below is a list of camps that are scheduled at this point.

Midget Boys Program: Athletes must be born in 1983 or later to be eligible to attend. The camp is scheduled for Grand Falls - Windsor at St. Michael's School and is open to athletes residing in Gander and extending to the west coast and to Labrador. The camp will be conducted by head coach David Constantine and will be held on Friday, April 10 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. and on Saturday, April 11 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. The registration fee for the tryout is $25 and this can be paid on site. Athletes selected will compete in the Eastern Canadian Midget Championships to be held in St. John's the last weekend of July.

Midget Girls Program: Athletes must be born in 1983 or later to be eligible to attend. The camp is scheduled for Stephenville at St. Stephen's School on Saturday, April 18 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. The camp is open to athletes residing in Gander and extending to the west coast and to Labrador. A registration fee of $10.00 will be charged on site. The camp will be conducted by Head Coach Doug Partridge and athletes selected will attend the Eastern Canadian Midget Championships slated from St. John's during the last weekend of July.

Juvenile Girls Program: Athletes must be born 1981 or later to be eligible to attend. The camp is scheduled for St. Stephen's School in Stephenville on Monday April 13 between the hours of 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. The camp is open to athletes residing in Gander and extending to the west coast and to Labrador. A registration fee of $10 will be charged on site. The camp will be conducted by head coach Tami Pennell and athletes selected will attend the Eastern Canadian Juvenile Championships slated for Prince Edward Island during the last weekend of July.

Junior Men's Program: Athletes must be born in 1979 or later to be eligible to attend. The camp is scheduled for the Provincial Training Center in St. John's on April 14 from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. and April 15 from 12 p.m. - 2 p.m. and from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. The registration fee will be $20 and can be paid on site. This is the only tryout camp for this program so athletes must attend in order to be eligible. Athletes selected will compete at the National Junior Championships slated for Nova Scotia during the first week of August.
