The following is being distributed at the request of the Newfoundland and Labrador Athletics Association:

Sixth annual warm-up cross country running series for schools

The NLAA is presenting the sixth edition of the very popular Warm-Up Cross Country Running Series for schools. We will conduct all races on three consecutive Saturdays on the grounds of the Provincial Recreation Centre in St. John's. Races are scheduled for September 19 and 26, and October 3. The series offers an individual and school competition. Any student, of the designated categories, currently attending a primary, elementary, junior or senior high school in the province is eligible to enter the individual competition. This year the series is open to athletes from grades four to 12 (born between 1989 and 1981 inclusive). Schools are not required to designate their teams since the first four girls/boys to arrive at the finish line will score. There is no limit to the number of entries. The Overall Cross Country Series Awards include: The "Paul McCLoy" Perpetual Plaque, Trophy School with the Most Participants, cash prizes, gift certificates, etc.

Come and join the hundreds of participants already enjoying the series and be part of the biggest cross country event in Newfoundland. Last year race number three set a new participation record with more than 700 students attending the race.

For more information on the Cross Country Running Series contact the NLAA office, (709) 576-1303, or visit our web site:
