Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve opens for 1998 season

Sandra Kelly, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Recreation, today announced that the Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve will open for the 1998 season on Friday, May 1. The Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve is located five kilometres east of the community of St. Bride's, on the southwestern tip of the Avalon Peninsula.

Cape St. Mary's visitors are reminded that while there is a fee charged to enter the centre's exhibit area, there are no fees charged to enter the reserve or to use the other services there.

These fees have not increased from 1997. The per day fees will again be Adult/ $3, Youth/ $1 and Families/ $7, while the seasonal fees will be Adult/ $10 and Youth/ $4. In addition, during May 1998 an "early bird" seasonal permit can be purchased at the reduced rates of Adult/ $5 and Youth/ $2.

Minister Kelly encourages everyone to visit this, one of the most spectacular and accessible seabird colonies in North America, to experience unspoiled nature in a way that will never be forgotten.
