Exemplary Service Medals for penitentiary's correctional staff

Minister of Justice Chris Decker today congratulated 17 correctional staff of Her Majesty's Penitentiary (HMP) on receiving exemplary service awards.

"The commitment and dedication of HMP's correctional staff is obvious in the work they perform on a daily basis," said Minister Decker. "I am proud they have devoted their lives to helping rehabilitate the province's prisoners."

The Corrections Exemplary Service Award is a national award presented to employees who have demonstrated at least 20 years of outstanding service. Lieutenant-Governor Dr. A. M. House will present the 17 Corrections Exemplary Service Medals at Government House today at 3 p.m.

"Such a high number of awards attests to the effectiveness of Correctional Services within the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador," said the minister. "I applaud the recipients of this prestigious award."
