January 6, 1998 Ray Pollett appointed to Public Utilities Board Chris Decker, Minister of Justice, announced today the appointment of Ray Pollett as full-time commissioner on the Board of Commissioners of Public Utilities (PUB). The PUB is a quasi-judicial tribunal with responsibilities for the regulation of public utilities, automobile insurance and the motor carrier industry. "Mr. Pollett, formerly the longest-serving part-time member of the Public Utilities Board, brings a wealth of knowledge to his new full-time duties," said Minister Decker. "As former mayor of Corner Brook, Mr. Pollett possesses a sound background in municipal government, and additionally, has technical capabilities learned through his decade of experience in the private sector as an electrical apprentice." Mr. Decker recognized Mr. Pollett's contribution to the PUB over the past number of years as an integral part of the decision to increase his responsibilities.
