Minister pleased with local software company's international growth

Judy Foote, Minister of Industry, Trade and Technology, said she is pleased that INNOVA Multimedia Ltd. of Stephenville has landed its first international distribution agreement with Ransom Publishing Ltd. of the United Kingdom.

She said: "This contract demonstrates that small companies in the province are continuing to look at business opportunities beyond our borders and expand into global markets. INNOVA is a small but dynamic company that has proven that business, particularly in the information technology sector, can be done from anywhere in the world."

The agreement means that Ransom will distribute the United Kingdom version of INNOVA's "Whale of a Tale" educational software series to both the educational and retail marketplace in English speaking countries in Europe, and are presently finalizing details for the Australia and New Zealand market. "INNOVA has shown that when you have a quality product, developed by bright and innovative minds right here in Newfoundland and Labrador, it can be successfully marketed to the rest of the world," said Minister Foote.

She said: "The success of companies like INNOVA and the latest Stats Canada report that showed job growth increases in every region of this province, tells us that the entrepreneurial spirit is alive and well in Newfoundland and Labrador today."
