New Career Information and Employment web site has something for everyone

Julie Bettney, Minister of Human Resources and Employment, launched a new web site today designed to help individuals plan a career. The Newfoundland and Labrador Information Network (NLWIN) is a new resource offering provincial employment and career information.

"Our labour market is constantly changing and expanding, especially the information technology sector and resources available to help individuals plan a career should reflect that growth," said Minister Bettney.

NLWIN was designed by the Department of Human Resources and Employment in consultation with NEWTEL Information Systems, other federal and provincial government departments, community agencies, the Provincial Information and Library Resources Borad and other sectors of the community.

NLWIN provides comprehensive, up-to-date information on career planning, job searching and recruiting, self employment, current work issues as well as other employment topics. Through NLWIN users may also gain access to national and international resources.

"NLWIN can benefit a broad range of people. From a 16-year-old who is trying to decide on a career path to an adult who may want to update his or her resume or simply obtain information on current employment opportunities, there's something for everyone," Bettney said.

NLWIN can be accessed at www.gov.nl.ca/nlwin or through the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador's Homepage. Individuals looking for more information on employment programs or career information can also call the Department of Human Resources and Employment's Career Information Hotline at 1-800-563-6600.
