Commissioner of Members Interests comments on scope of powers

In response to questions raised publicly, Commissioner of Members Interests Robert Jenkins said today that under the House of Assembly Act he is in a position to carry out a full and independent investigation into potential conflicts of interest pertaining to the Paralegal Institute involving members of the legislature, including former Minister of Development and Rural Renewal Beaton Tulk.

"The act confers upon me sufficient powers and autonomy to carry out a thorough and complete investigation of this matter, and I will complete my report as expeditiously as possible," said Mr. Jenkins.
